Lazio and Ciro Immobile have reportedly agreed to prolong their collaboration, with the club captain forging a pact with his coach Igor Tudor.

The Italian endured a complicated campaign as he struggled to find the back of the net on a consistent basis. Moreover, he lost his starting berth following Tudor’s appointment in March, with Taty Castellanos getting the nod upfront more often than not.

But according to Il Corriere dello Sport, Immobile and Tudor have now mended their rapport, exorcising all exit talks. The 34-year-old has been linked with a move to Inter Milan in the past few months, as well as the Saudi Pro League. Nevertheless, the captain is still armored with a contract running until 2026.

So as the Roman newspaper tells it, Tudor has expressed his desire to keep Immobile at Formello, even if a third striker could arrive in the summer. The coach and the club consider the Euro 2020 winner as a fundamental member of the squad and a key figure in the locker room.

Moreover, the Croatian boss doesn’t rule out playing with two strikers next season on some occasions. Immobile has also found more serenity in recent weeks after returning to the starting lineup and ending his goal drought against Monza.

Therefore, the coach and the captain agreed that the latter would have an important role to play next season, but managing his game time will be crucial to maintaining his best physical condition.
